I found the article on text messaging at reference interesting. It sounds like libraries are still experimenting with this, and although I do not text, I can see a real benefit for the public if they choose to go that route.
It is also interesting that it is completely separate from the reference desk, has a dedicated staff of reference librarians accompanied by subject specialists. So, it sounds like they are taking a careful step by step route with this service.
However, at least in the near future, I think the general public will still be most comfortable with, and use the services of the traditional reference librarian.
